Cobb & Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds
Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds is 50 lush acres situated on the Six Mile Creek just south of Gympie.
This HISTORIC location is the site of the old Cobb and Co Horse Change Stables. It was the first stop on the stage coach run from Gympie to Noosa which ran from 1878.
Down the creek are the remains of the old bridge that serviced the bullock teams, railroad workers, bridge builders and where the train passengers disembarked to catch the stage coach to Noosa and then by steamship (The Gulgoa) to Brisbane.
Close by is the site of Queensland's worst train derailment, the Rocky Mail Train disaster where 10 people lost their lives in 1925.
Learn tales of tough pioneers, railroad navies, drunken miners, bush rangers, hidden gold and skillful stage coach drivers with their dry humor that helped forge this land in the late 1800's.
